About Glassact

The Southeastern Michigan Glass Beadmakers Guild (SMGBG) was founded in 2000 and is the Metro Detroit area's local chapter of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers (ISGB). Our group's friendly name is GlassAct.  We're an organization dedicated to the education, promotion and preservation of lampwork. We're a diverse Guild - all levels from beginner to advanced are welcomed.

Our Mission:

  • To provide education related to contemporary glass beadmaking and lampworking.
  • To promote the continued renaissance of glass beadmaking, lampwork, and other related glass-working techniques. 
  • To preserve the historic tradition of glass beadmaking and lampwork.

What we do:
  • Education: Glassact sponsors workshops, demos, and presentations by various experienced glass artists. In addition we schedule workshops with knows PMC and jewerly artists.
  • Shows: Glassact participates in Bead Bonanza in the Spring and Fall. We also participate in Bead and Button in Milwaukee. Lastly, we have a member-only show in November.
  • Support: We support each other in learning new techniques, building skills, and becoming better artists.

Become a Member:

Fill out the membership application and mail it in with the fee. Please submit fees by check. Memberships are renewed the first meeting in March. GlassAct has about 50 members.

Meetings

Glassact usually meets the second Sunday of every other month.  Meetings are scheduled around holidays and other glass events.
